چکیده

wireless energy transfer system composed of multiple coils via coupled magnetic resonances. To verify the developed model, four types of wireless energy transfer systems are fabricated, measured, and compared with simulation results. To model a system composed of n-coils, node equations are built in the form of an n-by-n matrix, and the equivalent circuit model is established using an electric design automation tool. Using the model, we can simulate systems with multiple coils, power sources, and loads. Moreover, coupling constants are extracted as a function of the distance between two coils, and we can predict the characteristics of a system having coils at an arbitrary location. We fabricate four types of systems with relay coils, two operating frequencies, two power sources, and the function of characteristic impedance conversion. We measure the characteristics of all systems and compare them with the simulation results. The flexibility of the developed model enables us to design and optimize a complicated system consisting of many coils.

Implementation of Identical Spiral Square Inductive Coils for Wireless EV Battery Charging Application

In recent years, the popularity of wireless inductive power transfer (WIPT) system for electric vehicle battery charging (EVBC) is always ever-increasing. In the WIPT inductively coupled coil structure is the heart of the system and the mutual inductance (MI) between the coupled coils is the key factor for effective power transfer. This paper presents the analysis of mutual inductance between t...

Magnetically Coupled Resonance Wireless Power Transfer (MR-WPT) with Multiple Self-Resonators

Wireless power transfer (WPT) has been studied formore than one hundred years sinceNikola Tesla proposed his WPT concept. Asmore and more portable electronic devices and consumer electronics are developed and used, the need for WPT technology will continue to grow. Recently, WPT via strongly coupled magnetic resonances in the near field has been reported by Kurs et al. (2007). The basic princip...

Simulation of Magnetic Resonance for Wireless Power Transfer

André Kurs et al. (2007) in Science 317, 83 titled Wireless Power Transfer via Strongly Coupled Magnetic Resonances, proposed a feasible scheme to near-field transfer electric energy. Here in this report we take note of our simulation on COMSOL 4.1.085 to repeat his counterpart in Chapter 4 of his master thesis. Due to huge requirement on memory size, my simulation fails to align with Kurs', bu...

Efficiency improvement of wireless power transfer via magnetic resonance using the third coil

A wireless power transfer system via magnetic resonance has been reported by several groups [1-3]. In those reports, two resonance coils work as a transmission coil and a reception coil, respectively. The transfer efficiency between two coils is a function of the distance and the orientation between the coils. When the distance between the two coils is long, the transfer efficiency is small. Wh...

A Critical Review of Wireless Power Transfer via Strongly Coupled Magnetic Resonances

Strongly coupled magnetic resonance (SCMR), proposed by researchers at MIT in 2007, attracted the world’s attention by virtue of its mid-range, non-radiative and high-efficiency power transfer. In this paper, current developments and research progress in the SCMR area are presented. Advantages of SCMR are analyzed by comparing it with the other wireless power transfer (WPT) technologies, and di...
